Who I am
About
I have always been both analytical and instinctive: half scientist, half artist, with activism as the bridge between them.
I am a native Washingtonian, educated at The Madeira School, an HBCU, and Yale. Those rooms sharpened different parts of me: intellectual rigor, cultural awareness, independence, and the responsibility to use whatever access I have gained to widen the door for others.
My professional life has moved through clinical research, patient recruitment, engagement strategy, health communications, and entrepreneurship. I have used my voice, skills, and platforms to challenge closed systems and broaden who can participate, benefit, and be taken seriously.
I paint, photograph, sing jazz standards, cook constantly, and thrift with intent. I listen to NPR. I love animals. I collect work by artisans I can name, and I hold land I intend to develop slowly. I believe travel has a kind of magic: it expands the mind by making certainty harder to defend.

How I work
Pay attention, then say it plainly
Every discipline on this site runs on the same method. Look longer than is comfortable. Find the detail everyone else edited out. Then build the simplest possible version of it — a sentence, a frame, a product, a plan.
It is why the consulting and the studio work feed each other rather than compete.

Roots
Southern roots. Wide lens.
I'm Southern by heritage. Cosmopolitan by upbringing. Curious and creative by nature.
North Carolina gave me my foundation. Washington, D.C. gave me an early education in people, politics, culture, ambition, and the art of reading a room. The rest came from years of traveling, working, listening, eating, making things, and paying attention.
My mother and grandmother have had tremendous influence on me, my character, and my dexterity in the kitchen — the table has always been where our family passed down more than recipes.
I'm drawn to the places where culture, creativity, commerce, and human behavior intersect. That shows up in what I cook, what I collect, what I photograph, what I design, and what I build.
My creative work isn't separate from the rest of me. It's another way I investigate the world.
